Motion control:
make metal move on command.

Servo axes are where PLC code meets physics. This module teaches the PLCopen MC standard that nearly every vendor implements. You'll cover what an axis and AXIS_REF are, the MC_Power enable chain, point-to-point moves with the Execute/Busy/Done handshake, velocity moves and jogging, homing and the PLCopen state diagram, then finish with a two-axis pick & place capstone driven by a real state machine. There are six chapters, and each one has a live axis to play with.

One standard, every vendor

🧩 MC_Power, MC_MoveAbsolute and MC_Home: the PLCopen motion blocks look near-identical in TwinCAT 3, CODESYS, Sysmac and TIA Portal. Learn the handshake once and you can drive servos anywhere.

The handshake is everything

🤝 Execute on a rising edge, Busy while moving, Done at target, CommandAborted when something overrides. Every motion bug you'll ever chase lives in that four-signal dance, so we drill it until it's reflex.

🌐
Vendor-neutral by design: the MC_* function blocks follow the PLCopen Motion Control specification implemented by TwinCAT 3 (Tc2_MC2), CODESYS SoftMotion, and most major PLCs. Signal names and behaviour are shown as standardised; minor vendor differences are called out where they matter.
Best taken after State Machines & Sequencing, because the capstone drives its axes from a CASE sequencer.
