Where the alarm shows up
Hyundai robots (Hi5 and the newer Hi6 controllers) surface faults on the teach pendant, not a cryptic panel LED. Step-by-step: read and clear an alarm
- Capture the alarm while it's on screen: error code, message text, and timestamp. Take a photo of the pendant if you can — the notification stops blinking after about a minute.
- Read the message. Servo/amplifier, encoder, overtravel, collision/torque, and external-signal faults each read differently — the message points you at the subsystem.
- Remove the physical cause. Clear an overtravel by jogging back into range; let an overheated axis cool; fix the tripped external interlock or the I/O the message names. A servo/encoder fault usually means checking the motor, its feedback cable and connectors.
- Reset the alarm on the pendant, then re-enable the servo / motors and recover the program from a safe step.
- If it recurs, use the code + timestamp pattern: an alarm that returns at the same point in the cycle is a real mechanical/electrical cause, not a nuisance — diagnose that point rather than clearing repeatedly.
Why capturing the code matters
Because the notification is transient (blinks ~1 minute) and the pendant history is where the detail lives, the single most useful habit is writing down the exact code and time. Don't clear a servo, collision, or overtravel alarm and immediately re-run at full speed without understanding it — those protect the arm and the people near it.
